The first 3D printer in space

Europe's first 3D printer in space will be installed on board the International Space Station next year. Designed and built in Italy , I was tested as part of the future mission of ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti , and is expected to reach orbit in the first half of next year. Samantha will be sent to the station next November 23 for a period of six months.
The unit is a cube with 25 inches square and prints biodegradable and harmless plastic using a process based on the heat.
